Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how try-angle ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the try-angle website and Chrome extension (together, the Service).
The data controller is the operator of try-angle. Contact us at hello@try-angle.app. We will provide the full legal identity of the controller on request to that address, or to any supervisory authority on demand.
We've kept this policy as short and plain as we could. If anything is unclear, email us.
1. Data we collect
We collect only the minimum data needed to run the Service.
Account data
Collected when you sign in:
- Your name and email address, provided by Google when you sign in (we use Clerk as our authentication provider)
- A unique account identifier issued by Clerk
Subscription data
Collected if you purchase a paid plan:
- A Stripe customer identifier and the status / period of your subscription
- We do not see or store your card details. Stripe handles all payment information directly.
Usage data
Collected each time you generate a try-on:
- A timestamp, whether the request succeeded, the model used, the time taken
- Any free-text refinement instruction you typed (e.g. "roll sleeves up"), and the source URL of the garment image you tried on
Images
try-angle stores two kinds of images on our servers, both in encrypted private object storage scoped to your account:
- Your reference photo. The full-body photo you upload from your try-angle account. One per account; replaced when you upload a new one.
- Your wardrobe. Every generated try-on result, capped at the 100 most recent (older items are deleted automatically).
These images are only readable by you when signed in. The underlying storage URLs are not public; every image fetch goes through an authentication-checked endpoint that verifies the request belongs to the right account. We do not include images in any backups outside the object storage itself, and we do not retain copies anywhere else.
The garment imageyou pick (the product image on a retailer's website) is sent to our server only during the generation request and is not stored. We do keep its source URL on the resulting wardrobe item so you can navigate back to the product page.
Technical data
Collected automatically when you visit the website:
- Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, referring URL) retained briefly by our hosting provider for security and reliability purposes
2. How we use this data
We use the data above to:
- Authenticate you and run your account
- Bill you for paid plans (via Stripe)
- Enforce per-account usage limits
- Generate the try-on images you request
- Diagnose problems and prevent abuse
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to train AI models.
3. Third parties we share data with
To provide the Service, we share the minimum necessary data with these processors:
| Processor | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk (clerk.com) | Authentication | Email, name, Google identity |
| Stripe (stripe.com) | Payments | Email, billing info you provide at checkout |
| Google (Gemini API) | AI image generation | Reference photo + garment image, sent per request. Google's API terms permit brief retention for abuse monitoring; on the paid tier we use, data is not used to train models. |
| Vercel (vercel.com) | Hosting, image storage (Vercel Blob) | Standard request logs; your reference photo and wardrobe images in encrypted private object storage |
| Neon (neon.tech) | Database | Account + usage records, image metadata (pathnames, dimensions) |
Each of these processors has its own privacy policy and security commitments. They are bound by data-processing agreements to use the data only on our behalf.
Some of these providers are located outside your country (e.g., the United States). Where required, we rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses to lawfully transfer data internationally.
4. Where data is stored
Operationally, our database (Neon), hosting (Vercel Functions), and image storage (Vercel Blob) all run in the United States (us-east-1). Account data, usage records, and your reference photo and wardrobe images are stored there.
5. How long we keep data
- Account data — kept while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account closure.
- Subscription data — kept while you have an active subscription and for 7 years afterwards, as required by tax/accounting law (Stripe retains its own copy independently).
- Usage events — kept for 12 months, then deleted.
- Reference photo — kept until you replace it or close your account. Deleted within 30 days of account closure.
- Wardrobe items — kept until you delete them. Capped at the 100 most recent per account; older items are deleted automatically. All wardrobe images are deleted within 30 days of account closure.
6. Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to certain processing
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@try-angle.app. We'll respond within 30 days.
7. Cookies and local storage
The try-angle website uses:
- Strictly necessary cookies set by Clerk to keep you signed in. These are required for the Service to work.
- Local storage to remember small UI preferences
The Chrome extension uses:
chrome.storage.localto store your authentication token and a short-lived local cache of your reference photo for fast Settings rendering. Wardrobe images are fetched from the server through an authenticated endpoint and are not persisted locally.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers.
8. Security
We use HTTPS for everything, never store payment card details ourselves, and use industry-standard authentication via Clerk. Our database access is restricted to the application via per-environment credentials.
No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a personal-data breach affecting you, we'll notify you and the relevant authorities within 72 hours, as required by law.
9. Children
try-angle is not intended for use by anyone under 16. If we learn that someone under 16 has created an account, we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we'll notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after notice constitutes acceptance.
